Maya & Gloria are adapting to a much quieter home, which has been a pretty big change after all of the action & commotion from the litter the previous two months. Maya & Gloria play, rumble and sleep all day. Obedience training is coming along. Gloria will “sit” and “come” here on command well. We are working on “down“ & “stay”. She’s continued to be great in potty training, having had maybe three puddle accidents in the past week. Her bladder is tiny and she goes potty half a dozen to a dozen times a day. Because of her climbing skills, we put the pen away and she’s now jailed at night in the laundry room. Throughout the day she’s usually playing with Maya outside or inside, or sleeping at my feet. I love the way she’s so full of excitement and wonder over the little things. She loves to find the biggest thing she can carry in her mouth and then prances or gallops through the living room with it. That normally is one of my slippers, or my son’s flip flop. We are used to leaving flip flops and slippers out for ready access, but now when it’s time to get our feet warm on a cold morning or leave the house, we often find only one of the pair to serve our feet. She’s helping us reconsider our ways 😂.
One of the greatest blessings in regard to the litter is experiencing the joy and excitement of the grown ups picking up their puppies on Gotcha day, and hearing how the puppies and their families are adapting to their new lives. Most families have developed deep bonds with their puppies quickly. Puppies ask a lot of us, but give a lot too.
Puppies connect people.
They are a catalyst for starting & for reshaping relationships. One puppy is already welcomed to come to work with her master all day long, requested by the boss. Another is becoming a favorite playmate to a small child who doesn’t talk much. Another attends his master at his workplace, and is a daily temporary show stopper when he arrives because everyone loves him.
Puppies often remind us that life is good, and is to be enjoyed. Their soft fur and ready kisses are a comfort to us. They help us stop and enjoy the simple pleasures. And that’s always a good thing!
