Seeing, Hearing, Teething, & Going Potty; Oh My!

Writer's picture: bennettgoldensbennettgoldens

The past week with this litter has brought so many changes!

Right around two weeks old the puppies eyes opened, and they started exploring their surroundings visually. A few days later they started hearing. At the same time they started teething. And meanwhile they became able to go potty without their mother’s stimulation, but lacked any sense of control or direction with that new skill. Ew. It’s been an exciting, but messy, arguably gross, and continually changing sort of week. We delighted in their new sense of sight and hearing; they could see and hear us. So we put them up to our faces, & we played classical music in their whelping box. We introduced them to normal household living sounds. We gave them teething toys. And we introduced a potty mat and put them in it after their feedings, whether feedings by Maya or supplemental feedings from us. And they just keep growing, maturing, and delighting us.
